While always looking for the “next find” at both private sales and shopping expeditions, VMA seeks to introduce members of the art communities in Venice Beach and beyond. We are proud to represent work by Kristina Falcomer, Bridget Griggs of Toronto and Kirk Jenkins, an Australian native now living in Miami’s South Beach art community. VMA is excited to make available the last remaining Lithographs of "ALICE" by Donald A. Peters (American, 1921-2002). VMA is also pleased to present an original oil painting by Boyd Clopton, a renown costume designer.
In addition we are proud to exclusively represent a rare and unique work by Jean-Michel Basquiat. Created in 1984 for Jean-Michel's friends San Francisco punk/ska band The OFFS, this work was the cover of the band's First Record. VMA have secured the 1000 unreleased copies of the 25th Anniversary Limited Edition colored vinyl and present them framed, each with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. Jean-Michel Basquiat was an influential American artist who achieved fame in the late 1970's and early 1980's, credited with bringing graffiti to the fine art world of painting alongside Keith Haring and Kenny Scharf. Though Basquiat never finished high school, he grew up visiting the Brooklyn Museum of Art and took an interest in art from a young age.
His early work consisted of tagging in downtown New York with his friend Al Diaz under the pseudonym SAMO ©. Basquiat later went on to create numerous collaborations with Pop Art icon Andy Warhol. He is considered part of the Neo-Expressionist movement alongside Julian Schnabel and David Salle, with his politicized canvases blending African imagery and symbolism with the movement’s characteristic gestural marks and bright patches of color. Born on December 22, 1960 in Brooklyn, NY, Basquiat spent his life working in New York until his death from a drug overdose on August 12, 1988, at the age of 27. The Whitney Museum of American Art held the first retrospective of his work from October 1992 to February 1993, and in 2016 his large canvas "Untitled" (1982) broke auction records with a final price of $57.3 million.
The OFFS were a punk/ska band from San Francisco, started by guitarist Billy Hawk and singer Don Vinil and later joined by former Hot Tuna drummer Bob Steeler and a rotation of horn players including Bob Roberts, Richard Edson and Roland Young. The OFFS were major players in the early days of the San Francisco punk rock scene.
The OFFS counted among their fans and friends numerous people in the downtown New York art/music scene, including artists Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, musician and actor Richard Edson, who played trumpet with the band, and Glenn O'Brien, the chronicler of scenes for Andy Warhol's Interview magazine.
Included in the back frame is the Certificate of Authenticity and a short insert about Basquiat, The OFFS and Andy Warhol's confluence in New York City in the mid 80's.
Bridget’s multifaceted artistic abilities manifest themselves through performance art and modeling, allowing her to explore emotional depths while exposing her to global culture and art.
Falcomer's subject matter ranges from spiritually inspired dreamscapes to politically charged subverted compositions. Her work can be found in many private collections around the globe.

Boyd was a well known creative personality and costume designer who lived in Venice Beach. His career as a painter was brief and only a few of his works from this period remain.
Bridget Griggs (1968) was born in Canada, where she began her creative journey. In her early career, Bridget’s multifaceted artistic abilities manifested themselves through performance art and modeling, allowing her to explore emotional depths and exposing her to the global community, culture and art. Today, Bridget’s canvases express the wealth of her collective experiences, the tirelessness of her inquisitive nature, thirst for the undefined and acceptance of the ever-changing.
