Venice Modern Art
Thank you for visiting. While always looking for the “next find” at both private sales and shopping expeditions, VMA seeks to introduce members of the art communities in Venice and beyond. We are proud to exclusively represent a rare and unique work by Jean-Michel Basquiat.
Created in 1984 for Jean-Michel's friends New York punk/ska band The OFFS, this work was the cover of the band's First Record. VMA have secured the 1000 unreleased copies of the 25th Anniversary Limited Edition colored vinyl and present them framed, each with a numbered certificate of authenticity. Included with each is a copy of the 1985 INTERVIEW Magazine review by Editor Glenn O'Brien of The OFFS First Record, in which he makes note of Basquiat's cover art as follows: "You will recognize this album in better record stores by the distinctive cover by Jean-Michel Basquiat." Each comes framed in white wood with plexiglass front and back, allowing the album's back cover credits noting "Cover Jean-Michel Basquiat" to be seen, as well as the certificate and number of the edition. These are rare examples of one of only two record covers ever done by Basquiat, the other being done for his own musical group. The works come insured and shipped FEDEX third day air where available.
International orders ship on a priority basis. In addition we are proud to represent work by Kristina Falcomer and Bridgit Griggs of Toronto, Audrey McNamara and Juri Koll of Venice Beach, and Kirk Jenkins, an Australian native now living in Miami’s South Beach art community and Don A. Peters (American, 1921-2002).
VMA is pleased to review submissions from artists by email in JPG format or in person by appointment. Come visit us in Venice Beach, California.
